Utter Perfection!

VBH Crocodile Keyhole Satchel, in Dusty Grey
Spring 2011

The confidence of its design. Instead of lots of distracting bells and whistles, the sharp lines and interesting shape of the bag take center stage, as does the superb leather. There’s nowhere for bad stitching or subpar materials to hide on a bag like this, and a designer willing to show his full hand is one who is confident that what he’s offering is worth the steep asking price.

AH JIL!

It is the perfect hybrid of ski wear and couture. Cocoon coats, stirrup pants, shots of colors, phenomenal fabric, a love of all things twisted. Shoes inspired by the work of Jacques Adnet, a favourite decorator of the mid-century couture elite, and those floral prints was done by a legendary fabric house, Bucol. Quite an injection of energy and movement to Raf's fascination of formal fashion!

Clutched Pradas

I was uncertain about Prada's Fall/ Winter 2011 collection debuted just late this February. It was glamorous in some ways -python and fur, cocoon-like twenties style coats, wide belts slung low, bulky colored furs. Going through the entire collection, I realized there was an element of greatness beauty and glamour which was shown amorphously. It was less effort and upright honest. Very Miuccia.
The thing about this show is that, all the models clutched their bags (with handles or without) Food for thought, ladylike might be one definition since day clutches are so in, but shields, thats another thing. If your bag has handles, do you really want to squeeze it under your arms?

Carved Solidified Lava

Alexandre Herchcovitch’s light-reflecting sculpted Lava Clutch

There’s nothing I love more than a hot accessory. When it’s inspired by volcanoes, created by one of Brazil’s lauded designers, fresh off the runway, beyond limited edition, well, it doesn’t really get any hotter than that, does it?

The clutches come in three colors: Vesuvio, a deep graphite that almost looks black, Ash which is a deep gray which is shot through with splashes of cream and Multi, which is a hot lava-inspired mix of red, yellow and black. Lava comes in either an oval or rectangular shape, while Ash is oval and Vesuvio rectangular. Perfectly sized for unobtrusively carrying an evening’s worth of essentials, and perfectly priced at U$585!
